There are two types of information that we obtain from you, and then store and use:
- non-personal information that’s collected automatically; and
- personal information that you voluntarily provide to us.
We do not collect any personal information from you when you visit the Lucky For Life site or authorized features, unless you expressly and voluntarily participate in an activity that asks for it and you voluntarily provide it. To put it another way, FOR US TO HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION, YOU HAVE TO HAVE MADE A CHOICE TO KNOWINGLY GIVE IT TO US.
We may use voluntarily provided personal information to communicate directly with you via e-mail and text and by sending you newsletters and program announcements. We do not sell or rent your personal information. As you might expect, we also disclose your information when required by law.
We use non-personal information to administer and improve the Lucky For Life site and authorized features, and to make business decisions about what Lucky For Life fans and players might like.
- Freedom of Information/Open Records Laws
The Lucky For Life Lotteries are subject to Freedom of Information, Open Records and similar laws. So no matter how much we want to keep personal information private, the law may require us to disclose it to the public.
You do not have to provide personal information to enjoy most of the features of the Lucky For Life site and authorized features, or to play the Lucky For Life game. You also can opt-out of certain activities like newsletters and announcements by sending us an opt-out e-mail.

LUCKY FOR LIFE PRIVACY POLICY (effective February 26, 2015)
We use this policy to tell you about the types of information we collect from you when you visit the Lucky for Life site or use authorized features that link to this policy. More specifically, this policy tells you:
- the types of information we collect and how we collect it;
- the ways in which we use, share and protect that information;
- the choices you have in controlling the collection of your information; and
- your ability to access and update your information.
By using the Lucky For Life site or authorized features, you are letting us know that you agree with this privacy policy. Although the Lucky For Life site and authorized features contain links to other sites and services, you should be aware that we are
not responsible for the privacy practices of those, or any other, sites and services. If you have questions about how those sites and services collect and use data, you should carefully read their privacy policies.
Some Important VocabularyThis privacy policy is a legal document, so clarity is important. At the same time, if we used the kinds of defined terms that appear in most contracts, this policy would be much harder to read. So instead of doing that, we’ll use this section to let you know about some words that have special meanings whenever you see them in this policy. Let’s start with the word “policy” itself: when we reference “this policy”, we mean the Lucky For Life Privacy Policy you are reading now. Wherever we say “we”, “us” or “our”, we mean the Lucky For Life Lotteries. Not surprisingly, we use the words “you” and “your” to mean you, the reader, and other visitors to the site and those accessing our authorized features.
Whenever we reference “the site”, we mean the Lucky For Life web site found at www.luckyforlife.us and all related sites. When we talk about “authorized features”, we’re referring to elements of the Lucky For Life social media presence viewable from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, LinkedIn or any of the many other available external third party social media platforms. When we use the term “services”, we mean the site and authorized features collectively. Last, but definitely not least, when we refer to “personal information”, we mean information that can be used to identify you or that can be easily linked to you. So, a fairly comprehensive list of “personal information” would include such things as your name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, social security number, and date of birth. In contrast, a domain name or an internet protocol address or type of browser used to access the site is not considered personal information.
Nothing Personal: Automatically Collected InformationWhen you visit or use the services, basic information is passively collected through various means, including through your web browser via use of tracking technologies such as “cookies”, \"web beacons\", \"clear gifs\" and the like, which utilize, among other means, simple text files sent from our servers to your device. The information we collect through these means is
not personalinformation and does not individually identify you. It includes things like:
- the domain name and IP address from which you accessed the site.
- the type of browser and operating system you use.
- the date and time and length of your visit.
- the specific page visited, graphics viewed and any documents downloaded.
- the specific links to third party content you accessed from the services.
- the specific links from other sites you used to access the site.
Mobile devices are the one possible exception to the rule that our passive, automatic collection activities exclude personal information. We say that because, if you access the services from a hand-held or other mobile phone or device, the mobile services provider may transmit to us uniquely identifiable mobile device information that allows us to then collect mobile phone numbers and associate them with the mobile device identification information. Some mobile phone service providers also operate systems that pinpoint the physical location of devices, and we may receive this information as well.
Regardless, we may use both automatically collected non-personal information and mobile device information to compile generic reports about the services (such as popular pages on the site); to see how Lucky For Life followers, fans and players are accessing the services; and for advertising and marketing purposes. We then use that data to administer the services, make your activities more convenient and efficient, and enhance the functionality of the services (such as by remembering certain of your information, thereby saving you time).
Now It’s Personal: Voluntarily Submitted Information If you participate in certain activities through the services, you may need to provide us with information about yourself. For example, if you choose to send us an e-mail, fill out an on-line form, or participate in a player survey, you are voluntarily providing personal information to us. In doing so, you are giving us your consent to collect, retain, use and disclose that information in the ways we describe in this policy. We may use voluntarily-provided personal information (such as e-mail addresses, the content of e-mail and text messages, and phone numbers) to communicate directly with you on a one-to-one basis; to operate a promotion; to verify information, such as age eligibility; to customize promotional pages with more relevant news and information; for marketing and product development purposes; and for any other lawful purpose. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information with third parties. When permitted by law, we treat the information you provide to us as trade secret information.
If you don’t want us to collect your personal information, don’t provide it! This means you shouldn’t participate in the activities offered through the services that request or require it. Participation is strictly your choice. Not participating may limit your ability to take full advantage of the services, but it will not affect your ability to access Lucky For Life information.
Note that some authorized features may allow users to post or upload messages, comments, screen names, computer files and other materials. If you choose to make personally identifiable information public through these means, we will consider that information to be in the public domain and will not limit its disclosure in the manner described by this policy.
Things Happen: We Do What We Can To Ensure Information SecurityWe will take all reasonable security precautions to protect your personal information provided through the services. Due to the inherently open and somewhat risky nature of the Internet, however, we cannot guarantee that your information, whether during transmission or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, will be free from unauthorized access or that loss, misuse, destruction or alteration will not occur. We disclaim any liability for any theft or loss of, unauthorized access or damage to, or interception of any data or communications. You should also note that third party companies that help us operate and maintain both the services and our technology environment (for example, a service provider that sends e-mails on our behalf) will have incidental access to your information, including your personal information, as part of the work they perform, and we cannot guarantee or be responsible for their practices.
Know The LawThe law varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The laws of the Lucky for Life jurisdiction from which you access the services govern your access to and use of those services. If the jurisdiction from which you access the services does not offer the Lucky For Life game, then the governing law shall be the State of Connecticut. By agreeing to this policy, you consent to us applying the laws in place as they relate to data protections in such jurisdiction.
It is also important to know that Freedom of Information, Open Records or similar laws (collectively, FOI\") apply to us. What this means to you as a visitor or user is that no matter how committed we are to maintaining the privacy of the information we collect, we cannot ensure its absolute privacy. Under FOI, any person can request information collected by a governmental lottery, and that information must be disclosed unless an exemption applies. You should consider the implications of FOI as you make the decision whether to share information or take advantage of the services. You should also be aware that, although we consider the information you provide to us to be trade secret information, we will disclose personal information when compelled to do so by legal obligations other than FOI, such as if we receive a valid subpoena or court order.
Lastly, minimum age requirements for participating in the Lucky For Life game vary by jurisdiction. We take those age-related legal requirements very seriously and, consistent with them, do not intend for the services to be used by children under the age permitted by the law, and certainly not by anyone under the age of 13. Moreover, we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under the age of 13. If we become aware that anyone under the age of 13 has submitted personal information through the services, we will delete that information and will not use it for any purpose whatsoever. We encourage parents and legal guardians to talk with their children about the potential risks of providing personal information over the internet.
Changes To This Privacy PolicyWe reserve the right to change or update this policy from time to time. Please check this policy periodically for such changes because all information collected is subject to the policy in place at the time you provide it. Typically, we will indicate the effective/amendment date at the beginning of this policy. If we feel it is appropriate, or if the law requires, we may also provide a summary of changes we’ve made near the end of the new policy.
